The Boston College men’s basketball team held a 23-14 lead late in the first half of today’s game against Richmond, but ended up losing by a score of 64-44. BC was outscored 39-18 in the second half.
The Eagles made just 29% of their field goals, 25% of their three pointers, and 45% of their free throws. BC made 18 turnovers, leading to 21 points off of turnovers for the Spiders, and had just 2 steals to Richmond’s 11. The one area where BC played well was rebounding - BC out-rebounded Richmond 39-36. Today’s game marks the fewest points BC has scored in a game since losing to Syracuse 62-40 in January of 2016.
Jay Heath was the only Eagle to score in the double digits today, leading the team with 14 points. Steffon Mitchell led all players on either team with 9 rebounds. However, Mitchell also went a disappointing 1-for-5 from behind the free throw line.
The Eagles are on a 3 game losing streak as they head into next week, when they will face Northwestern and Notre Dame.
