It has been a long time since Boston College men’s hockey has played (ten days in fact!) but the Eagles are back in action Tuesday night at Kelley Rink against an out-of-conference foe, Yale. This game will be the first of two games in which BC will be collecting toys for the Children’s Hospital, so make sure to bring a toy!

What to watch for:

  1. Picking up where we left off: BC comes into Tuesday night’s game on a five game winning streak and the Eagles are playing their best hockey of the season thus far. However, there has to be a fear that the additional time off may have taken a bit of the momentum out of the Eagles’ sails. The way they respond to the layoff is going to be important.
  2. Create chances: Yale is statistically not a good team, and it manifests significantly defensively for the Elis. The penalty kill is bad, and the last few games the Elis have let up a lot of goals. If BC is aggressive they can take advantage.
  3. Win the possession battles: If there is one strength the Elis have, it is that they have been a very strong possession team, particularly on the power play (which is a wonder why it’s so bad). BC needs to limit mistakes and try to control possession.

Rankings

Pairwise: BC, No. 12/Yale, No. 51

Conference: BC, No. 4 (with three games in hand), Yale, No. 10

USCHO: BC, No. 14, Yale, NR

Alcoholic Beverage of the Game

Johnny Walker Blue

I say! We may talk about beer here on this website, but drinking such primitive and base alcohol is so unbecoming of a Yalie! Here is something that is more sophisticated for our palates.

Prediction:

Give me BC 5-1. I think BC is the better team playing some really good hockey, and I don’t think Yale is good enough to keep up with the Eagles.
