The Boston College men’s basketball team defeated High Point tonight by a score of 59-33 after holding the Panthers scoreless for a huge chunk of the second half. Ultimately, the Panthers would score just 15 points in the second.
Steffon Mitchell picked up a double-double for the Eagles with 10 points and 10 rebounds, while freshman Jay Heath led all players with 14 points. Jared Hamilton added 12 points for BC, and Derryck Thornton led the Eagles with 5 assists.
Despite the easy victory, High Point and Boston College matched with 41 rebounds each in the game, and BC went just 3 for 25 from behind the arc. The Eagles shot 36.9% overall. This was the first game this season that BC hasn’t scored over 70 points.
The Eagles return to action at Conte on Saturday at 2 PM to take on the Belmont Bruins.
