BC’s Best Chance to Win
BC forces 3 turnovers and possesses the football for more than 30 minutes.
The big concern with Clemson this year is their quarterback Trevor Lawrence has thrown eight interceptions through seven games after throwing only four last year. Clemson has not played up to expectations but remember why those expectations are as high as they are. Pundits are giving BC no chance to win this game and with some good reason. Nonetheless, there is precedence for an upset.
Just four weeks ago, UNC was a two-point conversion away from beating Clemson. The Tar Heels did not keep the game close by outgaining Clemson offensively; frankly, Clemson outshined UNC in every aspect of the game except for two: time of possession and turnovers.
BC is quite capable of winning these two battles. One can critique much of the Eagle’s defense, but they have at least, even in the disaster versus Kansas, shown ability to get takeaways. The Eagle’s run game allows them to control the clock and keep the ball out of Trevor Lawrence’s hands. That still means the Eagles will have to find a way to run against Clemson’s stout defense.
That is the Eagle’s only chance. If they can’t get turnovers, and they allow Trevor Lawrence to play his game, the Eagle’s defense cannot slow him down.
