Eagles Fall to No. 3 UNC

The Eagles couldn’t quite get the upper hand in this match

Boston College Athletics, John Quackenbos

The Eagles put up a tough fight, but ultimately fell to third-ranked North Carolina. The Tar Heels Maycee Bell scored their first goal eight minutes in off a corner kick. Then, twenty minutes in, UNC struck again when BC received a penalty for a hand ball in the box. Lotte Wubben-Moy converted the penalty with a low shot to the right of Allie Augur, who managed to get a hand on, but fell just short of saving it. The Eagles went into the second down 0-2.

With ten minutes to play, North Carolina scored their third and final goal as Rachel Jones took a shot from across the box that bounced off the post and into the back of the net. The final score was 0-3, UNC on top. Allie Augur finished with six saves on the night, and the two UNC goalies had three total. The Eagles are in Virginia next week, first playing Virginia Tech next Thursday, Oct. 24 at 7pm, then UVA on Sunday, Oct. 27 at 1pm.
