Wake Forest women’s soccer associate head coach Jason Lowe is set to be announced as the new head coach of Boston College women’s soccer this afternoon, according to BC Interruption sources. Lowe will replace Alison Foley, who resigned earlier this year in a surprise move. Foley coached at BC for 22 seasons and led the Eagles to 15 NCAA Tournaments and a 280-145-39 overall record. Last season BC had a 6-3-1 ACC record while Wake went 4-6. The Demon Deacons defeated BC in a 2-1 OT game the only time the teams met in 2018.
Jason Lowe was a goalkeeper for Wake Forest from 1994-97 and joined the coaching staff in 2014. He was promoted to associate head coach in 2017. Wake Forest made 2 straight NCAA Tournaments following his promotion, including making it to the Sweet 16 last season. Lowe has significant recruiting experience, and is a strong defensive coach.
Lowe’s coaching immediately impacted the Demon Deacons’ defensive play and goaltending. In 2017, Lowe helped coach keeper Lindsay Preston to 11 shutouts - she allowed only 12 regular season goals that year. Even before being promoted to associate head coach, Lowe made an impact on Wake’s defense, as their GAA dropped from 1.63 to 1.16 once he joined the staff.
Prior to coaching at Wake Forest, Lowe spent 5 seasons as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Alabama. While at Alabama, Lowe helped keeper Justine Bernier to earn All-SEC honors 4 years in a row, and set 6 program records, including career saves and career shutouts. Before joining the staff at Alabama, Lowe spent 2 seasons as the goalie coach at Emory.
