The Boston College Eagles will look to build on their upset of #11 Florida State by heading down to North Carolina and facing off with the Wake Forest Demon Deacons. Thus far, the two have been basement dwellers in the ACC, combining for a record of only 2-11 in conference play, but both have had brutal schedules. The Eagles have played UVA, Virginia Tech, Louisville, Notre Dame, and Florida State, while Wake has played UVA, VT, Duke, Miami, Georgia Tech, and NC State. Both teams have had impressive wins, however, the Eagles and their aforementioned upset of the Seminoles, and Danny Manning’s squad upset NC State when they traveled to Winston Salem.
Keys to Beating the Demon Deacons
Continuing to get healthy would be massive for Jim Christian. Having a healthy backcourt of Ky Bowman, Wynston Tabbs, and Jordan Chatman allowed him to lean on those guys more heavily through Jairus Hamilton’s foul trouble against Florida State. If Chatman can continue to knock down shots as he did against Florida State and Louisville, Ky Bowman will have another option to reliably kick to when he drives to the basket and gets extra attention. BC has a relatively easy next few games, with Wake, Syracuse, and Notre Dame as its next few games before traveling to Cameron Indoor to take on Zion and the Dukies. It’s probably too late to make the tournament, especially with bad losses to IUPUI and Hartford, but there are plenty of winnable games in the back half of the ACC schedule.
Predictions:
Matt: 85-72 BC. Take care of business and on to Cuse. Giddy up.
Katie: 80-77 BC
Toppin: 82-73 BC
