Boston College men’s soccer traveled down to Durham, North Carolina to take on the Duke Blue Devils in an ACC clash on Friday night. In the first half, both teams were able to get quality chances, each hitting the crossbar. However, neither team was able to find the back of the net, and the game went to the intermission still tied 0-0.
Duke made the first dent on the scoreboard in the 57th minute on a goal by Ian Murphy on a cross that just floated over the head of Antonio Chavez Borelli. 10 minutes later, Beto Luna brought the Eagles level with a clean finish after a through ball from Joe Kellett. However, Duke would score two goals in the ten subsequent minutes to take a two goal lead, 3-1 as Ian Murphy got his second of the match and Daniele Proch, who assisted on Murphy’s second, scored the third.
The Eagles would fight within one on a Heidar Aegisson goal in the 87th minute, but it proved to be too little, too late as the Eagles, for the second time in as many contests, lost to a top ten team by one goal.
BC will attempt to bounce back on Friday in South Bend against Notre Dame.
