The Boston College men’s hockey team’s schedule was released today, just a few weeks before the Eagles’ season will get underway. BC will be looking to play for a bit longer than the last two years, which both ended without a bid to the NCAA Tournament.
The Eagles will host New Brunswick for a scrimmage on October 6 before opening their regular season with three straight on the road. BC will play two games against Wisconsin beginning on October 12 and one against Quinnipiac before their home opener against St. Cloud State on October 25.
The Eagles will only have one more non-conference home game after St. Cloud State when they host Bentley on November 23rd for their Black Friday game. Outside of that, BC will play only Hockey East opponents at home, including BU on December 1 as the second game in the two teams’ home and home set.
The Eagles will also make out of conference trips to Notre Dame (now a member of the Big 10 Conference) for a game on New Year’s Ever and to Arizona State for two games in early January. BC will also be facing Harvard in the first round of this season’s Beanpot, which gets underway on Monday, February 4.
Despite missing the last two NCAA Tournaments, BC will still have a trophy to defend, having edged out Northeastern for the Hockey East regular season title last year after sharing the honors with both BU and UMass Lowell the season before.
With the regular season getting under way just three weeks from Friday, the Eagles will surely be looking for a better start than last season, when a 1-5-1 record in the first seven games had them playing catch up almost from the jump. With a more experienced core and an influx of some exciting young talent, hopefully BC will start the 2018-19 campaign on the right foot.
