Boston College Volleyball Sweeps Dartmouth Invitational to Improve to 9-0

The Eagles have 2 more wins already than they did last season

The Boston College volleyball team extended their undefeated streak to 9 game this weekend, improving to 9-0 on the season with a trio of 3-0 victories over Lafayette, Siena, and Dartmouth. Boston College junior Cat Balido was the MVP of the Dartmouth Invitational, and she, McKenna Goss, and Ally Mullen were named to the All-Tournament Team. BC has now won 15 straight sets.

The Eagles started out the weekend with an easy victory over Lafayette, winning in straight sets of 25-12, 25-15, and 25-18. Ally Mullen led the game with a season best 10 kills, sophomore Madison McKnight led BC with 14 assists, and Cat Balido & Makenzie Morrison tied for the lead with 11 digs.

In game 2 of the weekend, the Eagles defeated Siena in set victories of 25-20, 25-18, and 25-18. Cat Balido recorded 11 kills against Siena, Jane DeJarld led the game with 22 assists, and Makenzie Morrison added 10 digs for BC. The Eagles had 41 kills to Siena’s 26 and 7 aces to Siena’s 3.

The final game of the weekend was a nail-biter, but BC came away with a sweep once again, defeating Dartmouth in straight sets of 25-19, 25-20, and 25-20. Darmouth had won every set of the weekend up to this game. Jane DeJarld dominated the match with 21 assists and Makenzie Morrison recorded an impressive 24 digs. After this weekend, Cat Balido leads the Eagles with 76 kills this season and Jane DeJarld already has 192 assists on the season.

Next weekend, BC will play in the New England Challenge, facing Harvard, UMass Lowell, and Northeastern. BC’s game against UML will be played at BC at 6 PM on Friday, September 14.
