New head coach Jason Kennedy seems to already be helping the women’s volleyball team, which got off to a 3-0 start this past weekend with wins over Hartford, Providence, and Sacred Heart. The Eagles won their games against Hartford and Providence in straight sets and beat Sacred Heart 3-1.
In the first game of the season, the Eagles beat Hartford 3 sets to none with scores of 25-21, 25-17, and 25-11. Junior Cat Balido led the team with a double-double, recording 12 kills and 10 digs. Fellow junior stand-out Jane DeJarld led BC in assists with 26.
In game 2, the Eagles earned a 3-0 win over Providence by winning the sets by scores of 25-21, 25-23, and 25-8. Last season, BC fell to the Friars by a score of 3-1. McKenna Goss and Jane DeJarld were the stars of the game - Goss picked up 7 kills and 3 blocks, while DeJarld recorded a double-double with 11 assists and 10 digs.
In their final game this weekend, the Eagles defeated Sacred Heart 3-1. The Eagles lost the first set by a score of 25-21, but won the following 3 by scores of 25-14, 25-14, and 25-18 to come away with a victory. Cat Balido picked up her second double-double of the weekend with 10 kills and 12 digs, while Jane DeJarld recorded 27 assists.
Next weekend, BC will head to Arizona for the Grand Canyon University Invitational.
