On Saturday, coach Ed Kelly and his Boston College men’s soccer team travelled to Hamden, CT to take on the Quinnipiac Bobcats for their first match of the 2018 season. Senior Simon Enstrom led the way with two first half goals, which proved to be enough in the Eagles’ 2-1 win over the Bobcats. True freshman goalkeeper Joe Fryatt made his college debut for BC, registering one save and the win to begin his collegiate career.
Quinnipiac was able to climb within one with ten minutes left in the game, but the Eagles’ defense remained stout and was able to prevent the Bobcats from equalizing. A total of nine BC players made their team debuts yesterday, including six freshman, four of whom were in the starting XI. Enstrom’s two goals gave him 24 for his career, which makes him the sixth leading goal scorer in Boston College men’s soccer history.
BC will take the field again on Monday, August 27th at 5 pm, hosting Boston University.
