Last season the Eagles took out two teams that caught many by surprise when they took out the Florida State Seminoles at home and the Louisville Cardinals on the road. Today the BCI writers look at who Steve Addazio’s crew could shock this season.
Rich: Miami Hurricanes: C’mon, Friday Night Lights, Red Bandana Game. BC could roll into this one with a pretty good record (I don’t see 7-0 happening, but still), and Alumni will be buzzing. Addazio’s lone victory against a ranked opponent was also a primetime, Red Bandana Game, in the memorable upset of #9 USC in 2014. BC is due.
Peter: Miami. As Rich alluded to, BC has always played well under the lights on red bandana night. With them having enough prep time in playing against the likes of UMass MInutemen, Temple Owls and Holy Cross, I do not see BC being unprepared for this battle. This is one of the games that everyone on the team is already looking forward to and probably beginning to prepare for. It won’t be an easy match by any means, but I have enough faith that the Eagles will down the U.
Eric: Believe it or not BC is a 1.5 point dog to Wake Forest Demon Deacons in week three. Maybe I’ll look stupid but I think that’s a pretty disrespectful line for BC. That’s the most probable upset I see on the schedule. Miami is obviously a sexy pick on Friday night in October.
AJ: Screw it, everyone is saying Miami (which I think is a great pick), I am going to go with Clemson Tigers. This will be the year where the Eagles play spoiler and take out a Top 5 team. I know the Tigers are a monster up front with Christian Wilkins and that defensive line, but if there is any team that can neutralize them it could be the Eagles. Remember they have seven offensive linemen with significant starting experience. This Eagles team basically held their own against Clemson last year on the road for three quarters, I am going to go out on a limb here and say at home, maybe in a prime time spot the Eagles take out the Tigers and win a huge one in front of a crazy BC crowd.
