The Boston College women’s soccer team improved to 3-0 on the season this evening after a 5-0 victory against Albany. The Eagles were led by Sam Coffey, who scored the game-winning goal and earned 3 assists.

Coffey started off the scoring for BC at 12:24 in the first with an unassisted goal from 25 yards out. Coffey’s goal would stand as the game-winner, as BC goalies Alexis Bryant and Maddie Murphy stopped every shot they faced.

Olivia Vaughn scored the second goal of the game, assisted by Coffey, for her third goal season. The next 2 goals were both scored Gianna Mitchell and assisted by Coffey, for Mitchell’s second and third goals of the year. BC took a 4-0 lead into halftime.

Only one goal was scored in the second half. Senior Carly Leipzig took a one-timer from Jade Ruiters to ensure the 5-0 victory for the Eagles.

BC returns to action on Sunday at 1 when they will face UConn on Newton Campus.
