The first AP Poll came out this afternoon, and unfortunately the Boston College Eagles did not crack the Top 25. However, BC gained a considerable amount of votes and slid in at #34 on the poll.
BC was one of six ACC schools to garner votes, joining the Clemson Tigers (2), the Miami Hurricane (8), Florida State Seminoles (19), Virginia Tech Hokies (20), and NC State Wolfpack (32). The University of Connecticut did not receive any votes in this poll.
Of course most of these polls are based on previous accomplishments and name recognition, so it has to be seen as a positive that the AP is looking highly on the Eagles. Can the Eagles finish in the Top 25? It is not going to be easy, as noted above BC gets to face every ranked ACC team in their schedule. But with a team with a bowling ball running back, stacked offensive line, and good defense, anything is possible.
