Sophomore Gianna Mitchell was the hero of the day today as she scored the only goal in BC’s 1-0 win over Northeastern. BC is now 2-0 overall heading into a 4 game home-stand.
The Huskies managed to hold the Eagles scoreless in the first half of today’s game, but BC’s tenacity made it clear that they would not be shut out. The Eagles held a 19-6 shots advantage in today’s game, although each team had just 3 shots on goal.
The winning (and only) goal was scored in the 76th minute of play, late in the second half. Sophomore standout Sam Coffey took a corner kick and Mitchell redirected it into the goal with a header. This was Mitchell’s first goal of the season. Last year, she scored 3 goals, 2 of which were game-winners.
The Eagles return to action on Wednesday at 5 PM to face Albany in the first of 4 home games in a row. All BC soccer home games are free to attend during the regular season, so make sure to head over while the weather is still nice!
