BC Soccer Draws with UMass in Preseason Friendly

The Heights

On Wednesday afternoon, Boston College hosted the University of Massachusetts for a preseason men’s soccer friendly, their first of the year. After UMass opened the scoring early in the first half, BC pushed for an equalizer for the remainder of the opening frame, but were unable to push through for a goal, going into halftime with a 1-0 deficit.

Senior Trevor Davock was able to score the first goal of the season for the Eagles on a run early in the second half. He attempted to play the ball across the face of the goal, but it deflected off the keeper into the back of the net for an equalizer. Unfortunately, the Minutemen would grab a second lead minutes later. Despite chances from Callum Johnson, Joshua Forbes, and Alex Mieles, the Eagles were unable to grab a second equalizer until the 88th minute, when Fintan Devlin was able to head in a corner kick from Lasse Lehmann.

The Eagles will look to grab a preseason win against Colgate on Saturday on Newton Campus.
