On Monday the AP will release their first poll of the 2018 football season. Yesterday, Stadium Network reporter and former ESPN analyst Brett McMurphy released what is first ballot is going to look like:
AP preseason poll will be released Monday. Here is my AP ballot*

Bama Clem Wisc Wash OhioSt UGA OU Stan MichSt PennSt Aub Mich USC ND WVU Miami MissSt UF FSU BC TCU Boise Utah Texas FAU
*Every fan base except Bama will hate my rankings
If my counting is correct, he has the Eagles at #20 on his ballot.
McMurphy is the gold standard in college football reporting, making this tweet pretty interesting for the Boston College Eagles. Combine that with Phil Steele having the Eagles at #19 in his preseason poll, and Monday could be interesting for BC fans everywhere. Now truth be told there are probably going to be some regional writers who completely ignore Steve Addazio’s crew, but if enough national guys believe in BC there is a possibility that they start the season ranked, or at the worst high on the “receiving votes” section of the poll.
Of course Boston College has to play their games, and yes, there is a part of me that hates too much hype, but after ten years of no respect it is fun to get some respect around the country.
BC opens against UMass on 9/1. It can’t get here soon enough.
