Former Boston College goalie signed a one-year, two-way deal with the Pittsburgh Penguins on Sunday and will likely split time between the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins (AHL) and Wheeling Nailers (ECHL) next season.
Muse, who graduated from BC in 2011, has played for a number of teams in his professional career. In the AHL he has played for the Portland Pirates, Charlotte Checkers, Texas Stars, Rochester Americans, and the Lehigh Valley Phantoms. In the ECHL, he has spent time with the Florida Everblades, Fort Wayne Komets, Elmira Jackals, and most recently the Reading Royals.
Last season, Muse had a 2.24 GAA and .931 save percentage in 26 ECHL games and a 2.46 GAA and .919 save percentage in 15 AHL game. With the exception of his first season with the Checkers, last season was one of the strongest of Muse’s professional career.
With Pittsburgh’s goalie depth, Muse shouldn’t expect to see any NHL call-ups, but he should get some solid minor league playing time.
