Non-Conference Schedule Released for Men’s Basketball

NCAA Basketball: ACC Conference Tournament-NC State vs Boston College Nicole Sweet-USA TODAY Sports

The BC men’s basketball non-conference schedule was released this morning and it doesn’t contain any big surprises. The athletics department had previously announced series against DePaul, Texas A&M, and Minnesota (ACC/Big Ten Challenge). The Eagles open the season with several of the same regional matchups that produced wins last season: Sacred Heart, Columbia, and Hartford. Fairfield returns to the schedule after pulling out a win over BC in 2016. The season opener on Nov. 6 vs. Milwaukee is interesting; the Horizon League opponent last met BC in the 2005 NCAAs where they upset BC in the second round.

The Eagles mostly took care of business last season against OOC games they were favored in, but lacked a signature OOC win to put on their tournament resume. They will have a few shots to add such a win on this year’s schedule. In addition to tournament teams Texas A&M and Providence, the Eagles may also have a shot at Final Four sweethearts Loyola Chicago if they advance to the finals of the Fort Myers Tip-Off Tournament. BC will begin the tournament by hosting St. Francis NY and IUPUI at Conte before heading to Fort Myers to face Wyoming and the winner of Richmond/Loyola Chicago.

Check out the full schedule here. November can’t come soon enough! Which matchups are you looking forward to?
