Jim Christian clearly has some momentum on the recruiting trail, as today Boston College secured the commitment of 2019 SG Jay Heath. The 6’ 3” guard out of Washington DC is the first recruit in the 2019 class for Christian, and he is a great first piece. A high three-star recruit , 247-composite has Heath as the 46th best shooting guard in the class and the 282nd best player overall.
Why BC? Heath told Eagle Insiders that, beyond the academics and coaching system, the chance to go to the pros is the ultimate draw: “I believe that BC will help me reach my goal of playing in the NBA and the proof is really right there for you. They just had Jerome Robinson drafted in the lottery and Ky Bowman will be drafted next year and I just feel like the coaching staff really knows how to develop guards and help them maximize their ability.”
You can check out some of his highlights from last year’s Gonzaga DC Classic. Heath looks like a scorer in multiple phases who will only get better as his body and game matures.
Christian continues to build on his strong 2018 class, which included four-star Jairus Hamilton and three-star Wynston Tabbs. With Ky Bowman probably headed pro after this season, the Eagles are going to need to find young talented players to pick up the slack. Fortunately it looks like the team is doing just that.
