Tabor Academy (Marion, MA) graduate and Rhode Island native Chris Herren Jr. will play for the Eagles as a freshman during the upcoming 2018-2019 season. Originally classified as a 2019 recruit, Herren Jr. will begin summer classes immediately and be eligible as a freshman this fall. Herren Jr., a 6’3” guard, is billed as a well rounded scorer and long range shooter. He shot 42% from three last year for Tabor, while averaging 23 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists. His scoring and playmaking should fit nicely with an incoming freshman class that will feature combo guard Wynston Tabbs and highly touted forward Jairus Hamilton.
Herren Jr.’s father, Chris Herren Sr., famously failed to live up to his potential as a highly regarded Massachusetts high school prospect due to his struggles with addiction. He played one season with BC (1994-95) before finishing his college career with Fresno State and playing two seasons in the NBA. Herren Jr.’s uncle, Mike Herren, played for BC during the 1989-1990 season. Chris Herren Sr. is now a famous motivational speaker and substance abuse activist.
