Probable BC rookie Oliver Wahlstrom has been chosen by the New York Islanders with the 11th pick in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft. Wahlstrom is rumored to be joining the Boston College hockey team in the fall, but that now largely depends on what the Islanders organization wants him to do.
Wahlstrom is an exceptionally skilled scoring forward who sees the ice well and is known for his ability to create plays seemingly out of nothing. He was previously committed to Harvard, but flipped his commitment to Boston College over the summer. He will likely be a one to two season NCAA player, but should provide major offensive firepower to the Eagles during that time.
Wahlstrom has spent the past two seasons with the USNTDP. This past season, he scored 94 points in only 64 games, including 48 goals. Prior to the draft, scouts had him ranked anywhere from 5th to 7th in the 2018 draft class.
