Matt Ryan is now the highest paid player in the NFL. Let that sink in.
Today the 32 year old Boston College alum inked a 5 year extension that includes a whopping $100 million guaranteed. This is the highest amount of guaranteed money for any player ever.
Ryan, who won the NFL MVP award in 2016-17, has thrown for 41,796 yards during his career with 260 yards and 126 interceptions. Per Falcons website: “his 9.3 yards per attempt were also the highest recorded in the NFL since 2000, when Rams quarterback Kurt Warner averaged 9.9. Finally, the MVP’s 117.1 passer rating in 2016 led the league and was the fifth highest all-time passer rating. Ryan is currently seventh among all active quarterbacks in career passing yards and eighth in passing touchdowns. He is 16th in career passing yards among all quarterbacks in NFL history, surpassing Hall of Famer Joe Montana earlier this season, and 18th in career passing touchdowns.”
Ryan who was taken third in the 2008 NFL Draft, finished his Boston College career as a legend. He led the 2007 team to ACC Championship game, and had the team ranked as high as #2 during the season. He finished his college career with 9,313 yards passing, 56 touchdowns and 37 interceptions.
