The Boston College women’s basketball team has added another new staff member. Today, BC announced the hiring of George Porcha, who will act as the recruiting coordinator for the women’s basketball team. Porcha, who earned his undergraduate degree from New Haven, was a college football player but has made his career coaching basketball.
Porcha comes to BC from Ole Miss, where he spent 2 seasons as an assistant coach focused on recruiting and point guard development. Porcha has also been an assistant coach at Virginia Tech, and he spent 5 seasons as the associate head coach of West Virginia’s women’s basketball team, where he worked with Coach McNamee. He has also previously served as the head coach of both boy’s and girl’s high school basketball teams in Virginia.
Porcha joins fellow newcomers Joanna Bernabei-McNamee (head coach), Yolanda Griffith (assistant coach), and AJ Cohen (assistant coach) on the BC bench as Coach McNamee and Martin Jarmond look to bring the program back to greatness.
