BC Interruption would like to extend our deepest sympathies to the friends and family of Clare Droesch, who lost her 6 year battle with breast cancer yesterday. Droesch, who graduated from BC in 2005, was a 4-year member of the women’s basketball program. She was 1 of only 2 players in program history to appear in 4 consecutive NCAA Tournaments and she played for BC’s 2004 Big East Championship winning team.
Droesch scored 1,136 career points at BC and is also a member of the 500+ rebound club. She is fourth in program history with 158 career 3 pointers.
In addition to being a great basketball player, Droesch truly embodied the spirit of what it means to be a Boston College alumna. After graduating from BC, Droesch returned to her high school, Christ the King, as an assistant coach. She treated her teammates and the players she coached with kidness and respect but also expected them to play hard and leave everything on the court.
Droesch faced her disease with a fighting spirit and positive attitude and she will be missed by all who knew her.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Clare’s memory can be made to:
