Boston College women’s lacrosse is moving onto the ACC Championship Game thanks to a strong victory over Notre Dame. The Eagles picked up a 17-7 win and will play the winner of UNC vs. Virginia Tech at 1 PM on Sunday.

The Eagles were dominant on offense and defense, and Lauren Daly made an impressive 11 saves. The game was close until halfway through the first period, when BC began an 8 goal run. BC limited Notre Dame to only 3 goals for the remainder of the match.

As usual, BC was led on offense by Sam Apuzzo, Dempsey Arsenault, and Kaileen Hart. Hart and Apuzzo both scored 4 goals, and Arsenault recorded a hat trick. Hart has 8 goals over the past 2 games. Cara Urbank and Tara Schurr each scored a pair of goals for the Eagles, while Taylor Walker and Elizabeth Miller both recorded 1.

Daly led the game with 9 ground balls, thanks to her terrific goaltending, and Sheila Rietano led with 6 draw control wins. The Eagles has 16 draw controls to Notre Dame’s 9 and led with 25 ground balls to ND’s 11.

The Eagles will face either North Carolina or Virginia Tech for the championship. BC defeated UNC 17-11 in March and picked up a 9-7 victory over VT on April 14. UNC is favored to win the match over the Hokies - the Tar Heels are the #2 seed and beat Syracuse 21-12 in the first round.
