In an unsurprisingly dominant victory, Boston College has defeated Louisville by a score of 19-6 and is the first team to advance in the ACC Tournament. The Eagles took an early 4-0 lead in today’s game and never let up (although they did rest some starters as the game wound down). The Eagles scored 14 of their goals in the first half and scored 19 goals on the Cardinals for the second time this season.
The Eagles were led on offense by Kaileen Hart, who scored 4 goals. Sam Apuzzo, Dempsey Arsenault, and Tess Chandler also recorded hat tricks for the Eagles. BC’s remaining goals were scored by Sheila Rietano (2), Cara Urbank (2), Taylor Walker, and Emma Schurr.
The Eagles won 21 draw controls to Lousiville’s 6, and played solid defense to limit the Cardinals good chances. Goalie Lauren Daly made 6 saves on 12 SOG and freshman Abbey Ngai saved all 3 SOG she faced.
In addition to earning the victory, Boston College players had some big personal moments in today’s game. Sam Apuzzo scored her 100th point of the season, while Dempsey Arsenault picked up her 50th goal of the year. Apuzzo also broke BC’s single-game draw control record with 17 wins in today’s game.
We will update with BC’s next opponent following the conclusion of the first round of play.
