Boston College women’s lacrosse improved to 15-0 on the season today after earning a close 13-10 win over #17 Dartmouth. Despite taking an early 4-0 lead in the game, the Eagles struggled to get past Dartmouth’s defense and had to stage a comeback late in the first half.
Boston College scored 4 goals in the first 3 and a half minutes of the game, with Tess Chandler scoring twice and Sam Apuzzo and Dempsey Arsenault each scoring once. It looked like this would be an easy win for the Eagles, but Dartmouth followed up with 5 straight goals to take a 5-4 lead. The Eagles, who have been comeback queens this season, wouldn’t let a 1 goal deficit stop them and went on a 7 goal run to end the first. Arsenault scored twice to complete her hat trick, Apuzzo picked up her second of the game, and Taylor Walker, Kaileen Hart, Brooke Troy, and Emma Schurr each scored as well. BC went into halftime leading 11-5.
Dartmouth attempted a comeback in the second, scoring 5 unanswered goals to get within 1. The Eagles managed to stop their opponent’s scoring and ended the game with goals from Arsenault and Apuzzo to come away with a 13-11 victory. The Eagles are one of 2 undefeated teams remaining (the other is #1 Stony Brook).
