The Toledo Walleye have announced the signing of Boston College defenseman Kevin Lohan. The Walleye are the ECHL affiliates of the Grand Rapids Griffins (AHL) and the Detroit Red Wings (NHL). Lohan will be the only former Eagle playing in the Red Wings system.
Lohan joined Boston College this season as a grad student after playing only 11 games in his junior and senior seasons at Michigan due to injury. Unfortunately, he ended up missing a chunk of games at BC due to having his jaw broken in an unprovoked attack off-campus. Despite only seeing action in about two thirds of BC’s games , Lohan made an impact in every game in which he played.
The Long Island Native quickly became a BC fan favorite for his shutdown defense and fearlessness when blocking shots. Lohan’s fan-favorite status was cemented when he scored his only 2 goals as an Eagle during a 6-3 win over Maine in late February.
Lohan, who was third on the team in blocks this season with 32 over 22 games, is just the type of player that ECHL fans will love. He’s tough, he works hard, and despite being a defensive defender, he’s occasionally good for some offense.
Congrats to Kevin on his new contract and best of luck in the ECHL!
