Every week we are going to take a look at some Boston College Eagles recruiting news. While we don’t have inside knowledge and do not talk to the recruits directly, we have been diligent in combing the internet and social media for up to the date news and updates. If you have tips please email AJ at bchysteria at gmail dot com.
Younger Hilliman High On Boston College
Running back Jon Hilliman left Boston College this year to pursue a post career year with the Rutgers Scarlet Knights. But there is another Hilliman coming through the high school ranks, his younger brother Ethan is a 2020 tight end at Somerville High School. According to the report he wants: ““I’m looking to stay close to home, stay close to family,” he said. “Stay close to my friends and all my people.....Yeah, Rutgers, Boston College, Temple, Virginia, something close.”
Legacy Is Getting Big Time Looks
3* Bergen Catholic defensive end Aeneas DiCosmo has connections with Boston College, as his father Anthony played for the Eagles and in the NFL. Aeneas got a BC offer early in his recruitment, but since then has added a ton of big offers including the Virginia Cavaliers, Michigan Wolverines, Nebraska Cornhuskers and Wisconsin Badgers amongst others. Yesterday, DiCosmo landed another big one as the Clemson Tigers added an offer to his list. Will he stick with Boston College? Some of the recruits own quotes paint two different pictures on one hand: “Yea, definitely,” he said. “My dad has spoken very highly about Boston College. I’ve heard a lot of good things. I know if I went there, I’d be pretty comfortable.” but on the other ““Weather, honestly, to me, is a pretty big thing,” he said. “I’ve got to be honest, I’m not the biggest fan of the cold. But I also don’t like the blistering hot. But, I mean, somewhere in the middle would probably fit me best.”
Going to go out on a limb and say that BC doesn’t fit that mold, but who knows.
Some Stellar Local Recruits But Will They Stay Local?
There are quite a few solid local recruits that are getting national attention this year. Xavier Truss an offensive tackle from Bishop Fredrickson High School in Rhode Island is a major recruit who has offers from almost every school in the nation including the Auburn Tigers, Georgia Bulldogs, Ohio State Buckeyes and Alabama Crimson Tide. Then there is Lewis Cine a cornerback who was at Everett High School in Massachusetts, but just moved to Texas for his senior year. He has basically the same offer sheet as Truss. Then there is Taisun Phommaachanh, a 4* dual threat quarterback out of Avon Old Farms in Connecticut, who also holds offers from the Florida State Seminoles, Clemson, Boston College and lesser schools like UConn.
Does Boston College have a legitimate shot with any of these kids? It’ll be interesting to see if they visit the school and if BC can make their cuts. It’s going to certainly be an uphill battle to win these kids, but never rule anything out. The Eagles have done it in the past with kids like AJ Dillon, Jon Hilliman and Harold Landry.
Spring Practice Means Visits
As the team practices under the bubble, this is typically a time when high school recruits come to visit the program. I wouldn’t be surprised if this weekend there are a lot of visitors to watch a scrimmage. Usually a visit is customary in this program before a commitment, some of these kids you hear about visiting may end up on the team in the future.
Want To Track The Latest Offers?
It would take too long, and honestly wouldn’t mean a whole lot if I just listed every offer Boston College gives out. If you want to track the latest offers, please follow me @BCHysteria. I usually RT any offer that is posted on social media, and will be posting about recruits heading to the Heights this weekend.
