With ACC play looming, head coach Ashley Obrest has her team playing pretty good softball to begin the season. Despite not playing a single home game, the Eagles stand at 9-12 during a brutal non-conference schedule.
Chloe Schrabba has led the Eagles at the plate, leading the team in batting average (,353), runs (16), hits (24), walks (9), slugging percentage (,515), and on base percentage (.423). Other top contributors have been Carly Severini, Annie Murphy, and Lexi DiEmmanuelle, all of whom have started every game thus far. Freshmen CC Cook and Emme Martinez have also started very admirably in their first collegiate experience.
On the bump, Jessica Dreswick has shown why she’s considered among the ACC’s elite, as she has pitched to a 2.45 ERA in nearly 90 innings of work. Allyson Frei has also performed well as she has pitched to an identical 2.45 ERA while spotting Dreswick.
Picked to finish fifth in the ACC at the start of the year, the Eagles kick off conference play with a battle at Duke this upcoming weekend.
