Linebacker Mark Herzlich Re-Signs With New York Giants

BC Legend Continues His Career With The Team That Took A Chance On Him

NFL: New York Giants at Cleveland Browns Scott R. Galvin-USA TODAY Sports

Former Boston College linebacker Mark Herzlich is headed back to the New York Giants, in a deal announced today. The 30 year old linebacker is back after missing the entire 2017 season with a stinger he sustained during training camp. He has been a valuable member of the Giants special team squad, appearing in 88 games so far, and had been working out at tight end when the injury occurred.

Herzlich, a Boston College legend was a monster on defense with the Eagles leading the 2008 defense on route to the ACC Championship. He was diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma and underwent treatment for the disease, but famously announced beating it the last time College Gameday was at the Heights in 2009. He came back in 2010, before being signed by the Giants as a Free Agent. His story is famously told in What It Takes (if you haven’t read it yet, you aren’t a true BC fan).

Hopefully, Herzlich is all healed up and ready to role this season. With his trademark mohawk and eye black he has been a joy to watch since he graduated from Boston College. Good luck Mark.
