The Eagles kept on rolling this weekend as Boston College women’s lacrosse picked up a 19-8 victory over San Diego State to improve to 9-0 on the season. This is the sixth time this season that the Eagles have won by at least 2x their opponent’s score.
The Eagles were led by Sam Apuzzo’s 6 goals. Apuzzo currently leads the nation with 59 points, a full 18 points more than the next highest scorer. With 8 points yesterday, Apuzzo now has 203 career points and is the 8th BC player to reach the 200 point milestone. She’s got a year and a half to score 107 more points if she wants to be the program’s leading scorer.
BC opened yesterday’s match with 5 unanswered goals and never gave up the lead. In addition to Apuzzo’s pair of hat tricks, Dempsey Arsenault added a hat trick to her season total. BC’s remaining goals were scored by Tara Schurr (2), Emma Schurr (2), Tess Chandler (2), Elizabeth Miller, Kaileen Hart, Cailee Perettine, and Taylor Walker.
The Eagles dominated across the board yesterday, with 24 ground balls to SDSU’s 15, 16 draw controls to SDSU’s 12, and an impressive 13 caused turnovers. Arsenault led the game with 7 ground balls, while Apuzzo led in draw controls with 6.
BC heads to Louisville next Saturday as the Eagles look to extend their winning streak into the double digits.
