In a move that has been rumored for a while now, Boston College defensive line coach Paul Pasqualoni has decided to join Matt Patricia and the Detroit Lions according to multiple reports.
Pasqualoni and Matt Patricia have a history, as Patricia got his start with the Syracuse Orange as an offensive graduate assistant back in 2001. Patricia of course went on to become a highly regarded defensive coordinator for the Patriots, while Pasqualoni went to UConn, back to the NFL and most recently as the defensive line coach with the Boston College Eagles.
This is a big loss for the Eagles for a couple of reasons. One, Pasqualoni did a really nice job working with the defensive line, helping Harold Landry become a 1st round caliber talent, Zach Allen and Wyatt Ray. Secondly, he was a strong recruiter in the state of New York, helping to land multiple recruits including quarterback Matt Valecce and defensive back Elijah Jones.
Where does BC go from here? They could use a veteran coach to provide extra guidance for Steve Addazio, do they promote within or do they look elsewhere? We shall find out soon. Good luck Coach Pasqualoni.
