Yesterday, the Boston College women’s basketball team fell to NC State by a score of 72-54. The Eagles are on an 8 game losing streak and have lost only 2 of those games by less than 10 points. The Eagles have won just 26% of their games so far this season.
Surprisingly, turnovers were not the biggest factor in yesterday’s loss, as both teams had 13 turnovers. BC’s biggest weak points were rebounding and shooting accuracy. The Eagles grabbed 26 rebounds compared to NC State’s 39, and BC made 37% of shots while NC State made 46%.
Despite the loss, Georgia Pineau had one of her best games of the year for BC. The sophomore scored 21 points (most of which were score in the second half) and added 7 rebounds. Freshman Milan Bolden-Morris also recorded 7 rebounds, but scored only 4 points. Bolden-Morris averages 12.7 ppg this season.
The Eagles have 6 games remaining this season, and it is entirely plausible that they could go 0-6, ending the season with a 6-23 record. Unless the Eagles pull off a miracle and end the year with 6 straight wins, it is hard to imagine the Coach Johnson will be back next season.
