Boston College spring football is underway, and with it will of course be some changes. Earlier in the day, the school confirmed that long time college and NFL assistant Bill Sheridan will be the linebacker coach, while Antoine Smith will be the new defensive tackles coach a new position added this year. A coaching change that is worth watching is Justin Frye, who Football Scoop noted is interviewing with Chip Kelly and UCLA. The long time BC coach was targeted earlier this off season by the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. That is certainly a storyline worth watching.
On the player personnel side, at least five players could be seeing new positions this year according to BC SID’s Jason Baum’s Twitter Account:
Several @BCFootball position changes in the spring per @BCCoachAddazio @BennyTheJet21 ➡️ RB & WR
— Jason Baum (@JasonBaumPR) February 22, 2018
Nate Emer ➡️ OL
Adam Korutz ➡️ OL
Tate Haynes ➡️ CB
Drew McQuarrie ➡️ DE#WeAreBC
The biggest name on there is Ben Glines, who snaps at WR all of last year. At his introductory press conference (transcript will be posted soon), Addazio said that he envisions Glines to be someone he can move around, and use like he did a lot of his WR’s at Florida. The other players, Emer and Korutz were listed as DT’s last year, and Haynes and McQuarrie were both quarterbacks. Haynes of course is the son of Mike Haynes a Hall of Fame defensive back, so hopefully he follows in his father’s footsteps.
