Yesterday the Boston College women’s lacrosse team improved to 4-0 on the season with a 16-9 victory over #19 UMass. This was the Eagles’ second win of the year against a top 20 team. BC is currently ranked fifth in the country.

UMass started the scoring early to take a 1-0 lead before Dempsey Arsenault started a 3 goal streak for the Eagles. BC continued to dominate in the first and went into the second half leading 11-5. UMass scored 3 unanswered goals to start the second, but their efforts fell short and BC came away with another dominant victory.

BC was led on offense by Sam Apuzzo and Arsenault, both of whom scored 4 goals in the game. This was the third hat trick of the season for each of them. Also recording a hat trick was Jordan Lappin, who scored her first, second, AND third career goals as an Eagle against UMass. Kaileen Hart, Emma Schurr, Tara Schurr, Tess Chandler, and Cara Urbank scored BC’s remaining goals. Apuzzo, Chandler, and Hart have scored in each of BC’s games so far this season.

Outside of scoring, Hart led the team with 4 ground balls and Apuzzo led with 8 draw controls. Goalie Lauren Daly made 8 saves to help BC earn a win.
