After a few close losses to begin the season, BC had a much better second week of the season, beginning with a win in the finale of the Texas trip, at Texas State. Chloe Shrabba and Emme Martinez each went deep and Jessica Dreswick got the win as she threw a complete game, giving up only three runs in a 4-3 Eagles victory.
After a few days off, the Eagles returned to the diamond for the ACC-B1G challenge in Atlanta, Georgia.
In the opener, against number 22 Nebraska, Dreswick was masterful again, going six strong and giving up only two runs, but the offense was unable to muster anything besides a Cami Sellers home run, as the Huskers took the game, 2-1.
In the second game, against Indiana, Dreswick and Allyson Frei were lights out, combining to throw a two hit shutout. The offense was able to get a little momentum as several freshmen, including CC Cook and Sellers, were able to get some offense going for the Eagles. Shrabba put the game out of reach with a solo shot in the top of the seventh, finishing with a 4-0 victory.
In the second matchup with the Hoosiers, the pitching and the defense faltered a little, as the Eagles committed two errors and the pitchers walked six batters. Chloe Shrabba was able to extend her hitting streak to eight games and Annie Murphy and Lexi DiEmmanuelle each had two base knocks, but the Eagles fell, 8-3.
In the finale, the Eagles played Nebraska again, notching a win against a top 25 team. Dreswick threw a complete game shutout, only allowing three hits as Carly Severini led the offense with three hits, which led to a 3-0 Eagles victory.
BC will return to the field this week against Michigan State and FIU in Miami this week.
