Final Score: Notre Dame 84, Boston College 67
In what may have been the final nail in the coffin for BC’s NCAA tournament hopes, Matt Farrell and Notre Dame got off to a torrid start and ultimately dominated Jerome Robinson and Boston College. Farrell, a former Boston College commit, finished with 37 points and shot 10 of 12 from three point land. Jerome Robinson had 29 for the Eagles.
The Irish started out extremely hot, quickly jumping out to a 21-7 lead. Jim Christian and Boston College just had no answers to Farrell, who had 26 in the first half. After struggling to defend the three a couple weeks ago in South Bend, the Eagles struggled again today. In front of a sold out crowd, the Eagles saw their NCAA tournament dreams crash.
Down as much as 24 in the second half, the Eagles did make a late run and cut it to as little as 9, but it was too little, too late, as the Irish weathered the late storm and pulled off the victory.
