The Boston College Eagles earned a dominant victory in their first home game of the 2018 season, defeating Holy Cross by a score of 20-2. The Eagles scored first, with Holy Cross tying things up 4 minutes later, but the Eagles went on to score 17 unanswered goals before the Crusaders’ second and final tally.

The Eagles led in all the good statistical categories, including 16 draw controls to Holy Cross’ 7. The BC goalies split playing time in today’s game - goaltender Lauren Daly made 6 saves for the Eagles and freshman Abbey Ngai picked stopped 3 shots.

Sam Apuzzo, who was a force to be reckoned with last season, led BC on offense with 6 goals and 2 assists. She now has 8 goals on the season and scored both the first goal of the game and the GWG today. Senior Tara Schurr also picked up a hat trick for BC (the first of her career), scoring 4 goals against Holy Cross. Cailee Perettine, who scored her first and second career goals, was the only other Eagle to score more than once today.

The remaining 8 BC goals were scored by Tess Chandler, Kaileen Hart, Ally Mayle, Elizabeth Miller, Emma Schurr, Christina Walsh, and freshmen Cara Urbank and Maggie Casey (who both scored their first career goals today).

Outside of goal scoring, Jordan Lappin and Dempsey Arsenault led BC with 4 ground balls each and Apuzzo led the team with 4 draw controls.

After a dominant win today, BC will head down Comm Ave on Saturday to face the Terriers of Boston University.
