The Boston College women’s lacrosse team started the 2018 season with an ACC win as the Eagles picked up a 13-11 victory over Notre Dame earlier today. Senior Kaileen Hart, who had a breakout season last year, led the Eagles with 4 goals and 1 assist, while Dempsey Arsenault registered a hat trick. Sophomore Sheila Rietano scored her first career goal for BC and led the team with 7 draw controls.

Notre Dame opened the scoring, going up 2-0 early in the match. Goals from Rietano and Hart tied the game, and BC and Notre Dame would trade goals throughout the first half. The Eagles entered the second with a 7-6 lead. Notre Dame opened the scoring in the second half, but Sam Apuzzo scored her second of the game just a minute later to start a streak of 5 unanswered goals for the Eagles. The Fighting Irish were able to stage a bit of a comeback, but the Eagles maintained the lead and ended up with a 2 goal victory.

In addition to Rietano, Hart, Arsenault, and Apuzzo, BC had goals from Tess Chandler, Emma Schurr, and Ally Mayle.
