Sam Apuzzo and Dempsey Arsenault are 2 of 6 college players named to Team USA for the Spring Premiere at Stanford University on January 25, 2019. Apuzzo and Arsenault will both be making their national team debuts as they play alongside their Boston College assistant coach, Kayla Treanor.
Apuzzo, who is the reigning winner of the Tewaaraton Award, led the Eagles with 88 points, 41 assists, and 129 points over just 24 games last season. She also led the team with 163 draw control wins and 31 caused turnovers. Overall, Apuzzo was 3rd in the NCAA in points and goals and 10th in draw controls per game last year. Apuzzo was the only non-senior nominated for the Tewaaraton last season, and it is a testament to her skill and character that she can away the winner.
Arsenault was second on the Eagles (behind Apuzzo) with 64 goals, 39 assists, and 103 points last year. She led the team with 59 ground balls and had 111 draw controls, again in second place on the team behind Apuzzo. Arsenault has shown significant improvement in each of her seasons at BC, and fans should expect to see big things from her this year.
