Boston College men’s hockey freshman Oliver Wahlstrom has been named to the preliminary roster for the 2019 U.S. National Junior Team for this winter’s World Junior competition. The final team will compete in the IIHF World Junior Championship in British Columbia from Dec. 26-Jan. 5.

Wahlstrom, who was drafted eleventh overall in last summer’s NHL Entry Draft by the New York Islanders, has played 12 games so far for Boston College this season. Wahlstrom has 3 goals, 1 assist, and 10 penalty minutes for the Eagles. He most recently scored in BC’s Black Friday loss to Bentley, and he picked up his lone assist in the Eagles’ win over Boston University last weekend.

In addition to Wahlstrom, highly touted Boston College recruit Spencer Knight has been named to the preliminary World Juniors roster. Knight is considered to be the top goaltending pick in this summer’s NHL Entry Draft and is expected to join the Eagles next fall.
