Boston College Guard Wynston Tabbs has been named Freshman of the Week by CBS Sports and the US Basketball Writers Association for his recent performances against Columbia and Fairfield. Averaging 19.5 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 4.5 assists across two games was enough for him to earn the nod ahead of Kentucky’s Keldon Johnson.
The ACC has loads of freshmen talent, and it’s not all in Durham and Chapel Hill. Wynston Tabbs, of Boston College, was the best newbie in the country last week and is the @CBSSports/@USBWA Freshman of the Week. https://t.co/hpLYRkvFr6

Tabbs has been a revelation this year. While all eyes were focused on Jairus Hamilton, a top-75 recruit, Tabbs has filled in for Jerome Robinson as well as any Eagle fan could possibly hope. CBS Sports points out that he’s currently the only freshman averaging at least 15.8 points and 4.6 rebounds and 3.2 assists and 1.1 steals per game (yes its a cherry picked stat, but look at that well rounded-ness. The Jesuits should be proud). The future looks bright to say the least.
Boston College continues its season against the Big East’s DePaul Blue Demons this Saturday. BCI will, of course, have coverage of that game and the rest of the season.
