Joanna Bernabei-McNamee’s first signing class for Boston College women’s basketball has 2 new members: Jaelyn Batts and Akunna Konkwo. Batts and Konkwo, who signed NLIs today, will join the class of 2023 on The Heights next fall.
Batts, a 6 foot forward from South Riding, Virginia, verbally committed to BC in August. She averaged 18 points per game and scored her 1,000 career point last season as a junior. Batts was a Virginia All-State first team pick as both a sophomore and a junior in addition to being a “Player of the Conference”. Last season she was also an All-NOVA junior girls team honoree. Coach McNamee described Batts to bceagles.com as a “versatile scorer.”
Konkwo, who announced her commitment in July, is a top prospect, ranked as the 18th best center in her recruiting class by ESPN. Konkwo is a 3-4 star recruit who is also 93rd on Prospect Nation’s class of 2023 top prospects list. Konkwo is known for being a strong rebounder and average 19 points and 15 rebounds per game as a junior. She has been a Virginia All-State first team selection 3 years in a row and has over 1,500 career points and 1,000 career rebounds.
