Boston College Men’s Soccer tops NC State in ACC Play

Gasson Hall

After three consecutive one goal losses against ranked ACC foes, Boston College men’s soccer was finally able to get a win against #17 NC State on Friday night in Newton. Despite being out-possessed for much of the first 15 minutes or so, the Eagles were able to get the first shot on goal by Trevor Davock from just outside the penalty box. As the first half continued on, the Eagles began to take over, as Simon Enstrom forced a save over the crossbar and Joshua Forbes forced a save on a loose ball off a corner kick.

In the 61st minute, Enstrom broke through with a header from a cross by Kristoffer Konradsson. NC State would try to find an equalizer for the remaining 30 minutes, but were unable, allowing the Eagles to come away with a 1-0 victory in a game they really controlled. They held a 10-3 lead in shots, a 7-0 lead in shots on goal, and forced NC State’s keeper into making 6 saves while Antonio Chavez Borelli had a quiet game, registering no saves in the shutout.

The Eagles will return to the pitch tonight for a non-conference clash with the Harvard Crimson at home.
