Boston College Football Falls to NC State 28-23

:(

NCAA Football: Temple at Boston College Greg M. Cooper-USA TODAY Sports

After a strong win against Temple last weekend, the Boston College football team picked up their second loss of the season today against ACC opponent NC State. The Eagles came out fighting in the fourth quarter, but it wasn’t enough for a comeback and BC ultimately fell to NC State by a score of 28-23.

The big story of the game for Eagles fans was AJ Dillon, who was questionable for today heading up to game time. Ultimately, BC announced that Dillon (aka The Sauce) would miss today’s game, which certainly made this a much harder match-up for the Eagles.

NC State got on the board first with a touchdown, but Colton Lichtenberg kept the Eagles from going scoreless in the first quarter thanks to a 33 yard field goal. Unfortunately for BC, NC State picked up a pair of touchdowns in the second quarter and held the Eagles scoreless, so heading into halftime the Wolfpack led 21-3.

Both teams earned a touchdown in the third quarter. BC’s was scored by Bill Glines off of a 28 yard run by Anthony Brown. The Eagles were down by 18 heading into the fourth quarter, but another touchdown by Glines go them closer to comeback territory. A blocked punt recovered in the end zone by Travis Levy led to a touchdown and got BC within 5 points of NC State with a score of 28-23 and 3 minutes remaining, but that score would ultimately hold.

Up next, BC will face Louisville at Alumni for Homecoming Weekend. Fingers crossed that AJ Dillion will be healthy and ready to play...
