The Boston College field hockey team closed out the regular season today, defeating BU in a close 1-0 game. BC ends the regular season with a 10-8 overall record and a 2-4 ACC record. This is an improvement over last season, when BC went winless in ACC play (the Eagles defeated Virginia and Wake Forest this season).
Today’s game was scoreless through the first half, with BU’s Kathleen Keegan making 3 saves and Jonna Kennedy making 1 save for BC - Kennedy only had to make 2 saves all game, as BU had 2 SOG to BC’s 7.
Freshman Eva Van de Mierop scored the only goal of the game at 41:06 off of a corner, assisted by Frederique Haverhals and Ymke Rose Gote. This was Van de Mierop’s first career goal as an Eagle. Today also marked Kennedy’s first career shutout at BC.
BC returns to action on Thursday, November 1 when the Eagles head to North Carolina to face Virginia in the first round of the ACC Tournament.
