Boston College Men’s Soccer Recap: URI and Syracuse

Gasson Hall

In its final non-conference clash of the season, BC men’s soccer traveled to URI to take on the Rams. Neither team’s keeper was too busy in the first half as the teams totaled only three shots before the intermission, but the intensity of the game really picked up in the second half, as there were as many goals scored as there were shots taken in the first. URI broke the scoring open about ten minutes into the second half, after which the Eagles picked up their offensive pressure, equalizing only four minutes later on Simon Enstrom’s ninth of the year. However, the Rams would take the lead in the 80th minute, which they would hold onto for the final ten minutes to save the victory.

In the regular season finale, the Eagles traveled to Syracuse to take on the Orange. Goalkeeper Antonio Chavez Borelli was tested early, registering six saves in the scoreless first half. Syracuse ended the game with a 24-9 advantage on shots, but neither side was able to score a goal, and the Eagles finished the season with a tie and a 4-7-4 record.

They will face NC State in the first round of the ACC tournament on Wednesday.
